We promote a plant-based pattern of eating, where your body is fueled by unrefined, whole plant foods.
At the same time, we appreciate you may want to relax from time-to-time and eat other foods.
With a bit of creativity and inspiration, there are many ways to enjoy a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, leafy greens, sprouts, legumes, ancient grains and pseudocereals and so much more.
The diet itself is part of a long-term lifestyle change, although we acknowledge some people are looking for a temporary plan to follow and perhaps lose some weight for example. We’re not here to tell you what to do.
A great place to start if you’re looking for ideas is our recipe roundups which cover just about everything you could imagine.
The VegByte Approach to Diet
There are many great approaches to following a Whole Food, Plant-Based (WFPB) Diet such as outlined by the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies (CNS).
We suggest:
- the use of certain high-quality oils used sparingly
- using whole grains though not as staple foods
- you eat whole foods that are sourced locally and in season, as much as possible
- you enjoy avocado and coconut
We’ve made these recommendations based on personal experience.
We don’t promote calorie counting, though if tracking calories feels like the way to go for you, then do it.
A well planned plant-based diet covers all your nutrient needs. however, due to individual differences such as genetics, illnesses and many other factors, some people are advised or feel the need to supplement.
We prioritize a food-based approach over synthetic supplements whenever possible.
Supplements may include:
- Vitamin B12 supplement
- Vitamin D3 supplement
- Multi-mineral/vitamin supplement
The VegByte Perspective
Our perspective is to put you in charge. We don’t do paternalism so the last thing we’re going to do is tell you how to go plant-based and what you should eat once you are.
As you’ll see us state all over VegByte, there is no one-size-fits-all approach and, of course, we appreciate everybody has their own reasons for looking at this approach.
So trying to advise on a best way, as you can see, is a pointless exercise.
Instead we aim to give you as much information as possible to help you make this a success.
